How would you cultivate a deeper relationship with the community you’d like to serve?

Foster The Future is the charity initiative started in partnership with the band, Foster The People. Our goal is to inspire, partner with and mobilize volunteers all over the world to create community and help their neighbors. We spent the last two summers on the road spreading the word and helping volunteers get involved in over 50 charities across North America. We now have supporters across the country excited about continuing the work they started by becoming a Local Hero. We want to support their efforts to help others and create their own sense of community. Our team will select Local Heroes in various cities to create "do good" events in their community and bring people together. Our team will help them along the way to spread the word and give advice and guidance.

How would you use the $1,000 to turn your idea into a reality?

Since the beginning, Foster The Future has been funded by fans and supporters and we need help to keep the momentum going. In order to manage volunteers and Local Heroes, stay in touch, give support and help with resources — we need a budget.

$1000 would kick off our Local Heroes program and allow our team to focus on the support and resources needed to help build community.

This includes:
-An interactive website for Local Heroes and supporters
-Small stipend for Local Heroes Project Manager/High Fiver
-Shipping and postage for materials
