Formerly gang-involved women of the Homegirl Cafe lead gardening workshops in their community

Homeboy Industries has 25 years of experience serving the Los Angeles Community, and the Homegirl Cafe is a cherished dining spot as well as place of hope and opportunity for formerly gang-involved women and men. The Homegirl Cafe employees have been growing organic produce to serve in the cafe as well as leading gardening classes at local elementary schools, and the women of the cafe would love to share their knowledge with the community!

How would you use the $1,000 to turn your idea into a reality?

Funds would be used to furnish an outdoor education lab to teach community workshops about urban farming, organic gardening, and nutrition

It is a wonderful idea. As a member of the LA Food Policy Council, I will tell you that we are working to support such projects. It is totally necessary in a food dessert that lacks access to the usual places to get healthy fruits and vegetables.
