Chair yoga brings the traditional health benefits of yoga to folks who are uncomfortable moving up and down from the floor or whose physical condition keeps them from a traditional yoga practice. Many sedentary people believe they are unable to practice yoga, but the practice of chair yoga builds community while re-educating the body in movement. Over time people are less stressed, more mobile, and have a better self image making for a better quality of life.
This $1,000 would finance a 12-hour Chair Yoga workshop to teach five members of underserved communities how to teach yoga to the members of their own communities. Participants in the workshop will receive a manual with six different classes to teach or to mix and match as needed and resources for additional props, ideas on how to find props without spending money, and the business of teaching chair yoga.
