The fact that HIV/AIDS is no longer a death sentence has diluted the importance that people attribute to this issue. The truth is however, that even if there is a way to live a longer and better life with HIV/AIDS, there is still no definitive cure. Scientists have come a long way and medical treatments have improved but HIV and AIDS are still life-threatening and life-changing diseases. At UNTIL, we believe that restarting the conversation is of the utmost importance in the fight to prevent the spread of HIV and eliminate stigma. PERHAPS THE GREATEST RISK OF HIV IS BELIEVING IT IS NO LONGER A PROBLEM. We need to take this forgotten issue and present it in a way that brings the reality and threat of HIV back into question. One way we hope to get people talking is via a Design Challenge that will engage the public and inspire people to get involved in the fight against HIV/AIDS. The winning Design will be highlighted in a local ad campaign to educate and raise awareness of HIV/AIDS.
At UNTIL, we are no strangers to working on a budget and are very recognizant of any contributions, large or small, that we receive. With a $1,000 grant we will be able to finalize and implement our ad campaign in local, Bay Area, magazines and newspapers. With the help of our local efforts we also hope to foster new partnerships that could potentially allow us to take our campaign on the road and reach even more communities. A little bit can go a long way!
